The Louis Vuitton Saumur was created in the 1980s. The model name and design are directly inspired by the city of Saumur in France's Loire Valley known for its equestrian school, Cadre Noir, the national advanced school for equestrian arts. Its dual-compartment design with saddle-bag shape, buckles, and straps pays homage to a horse's saddle. The original bag was discontinued around 2010, but Louis Vuitton reintroduced and redesigned the style starting in 2017. The Saumur embodies the brand's ability to blend its heritage with modern functionality, creating a lasting and collectible piece that remains popular today.
